Learning on your Time

During my teaching with technology course I have learned so much about the education system in front of a computer. I personally could never have succeeded in grade school if I were enrolled in online courses. I have a hard time managing my time and prioritizing my to-do list. I always try to do everything at once and when you can't do everything at once you don't do anything at all. Also, I tend to get frustrated when my computer gets really slow due to all the windows and programs I have open on my screen. I feel that these are a few minor set backs that would gradually become a big problem for me if I were have been in an online school growing up. Online students require a lot of motivation and drive. The style you learn can be a huge factor on whether or not you will have an easier time in an online course. I'd prefer to talk face-to-face with someone. Online you have to find ways around that obstacle if you are the same way. By viewing a few videos online of other students stories and why they choose online courses I was able to realize how well this option works for others. For students that are home school for different reasons like sports or values or maybe they get picked on and don't like the people in their school,or illnesses that don't allow the student to get to school on a daily basis are just a few examples off the top of my head. I also didn't realize how many schools to choose from when deciding to attend an online school. There is a lot to consider when making this decision and I believe with society gearing toward a highly technological savy generation there will be many advertisements, commercials, and maybe even movies about students in online schools.

5-Year Old Got Swag

This little boy is so adorable and innocent.

New Course-New Blog

This new course I am in is the second part of the teaching with technology certificate. I enjoyed this class alot. Having this course partially online and in class was interesting. It was a long time to be in class in front of a computer from 8-2 but I think we benefited from having this much time together. A lot of applications that use technology take a long time to figure out and create. Allowing this much time for the class to work on the different tools also allowed time for the students to focus and ask question right away. The best thing I liked was either the teacher web or weebly and the ITV assignment. The ITV lesson was a new experience and one that I wouldn't mind doing again.

What are some of your favorite things learned from this course?

BUSY, BUSY

It has been a while since my last post. I apologize about that. As I sit here watching my little girl play in her walker that her grandma got her. She has finally allowed me to come to the table to do my homework. Over the last few weeks she has grown so much and so has my work load. While trying to balance taking care of my daughter, full course load, and working 2 jobs I was bound to overload. Unfortunately, I have taken it out on my work. With all of the technologies i figured that keeping up with my online course wouldn't be too hard but I guess I was wrong. It gets more and more difficult to open a computer and get everything loaded and continue a thought process when you have a little one demanding all of your attention.

Just to reflect on some of the assignments... I actually had a difficult time with the online portfolio. I set up an account with e portfolio but I did not have enough patience to figure out how to get the tablets and information uploaded. I continue using Jing. I sometimes try to find random things online just to take a picture of. I was really nervous trying to record my tutorial video. Especially trying to get everything said within the time limit. Well I am off. I will have a few more posts to put up due to the lack there of in the last couple weeks. Evelyn has been quite cooperative today so I need to take advantage of it.

Interesting?

So as I am sitting here my room mate is doing a work out video and it is pretty entertaining. I just finished doing my first presentation using UMconnect. It was actually kind of fun but I was so scared. So I am curious. For this part of the course we are suppose to write a blog each week and then comment of others blogs every other week. I am not seeing any comments on my blogs so I hope I am not doing something wrong when I set this blog up. This is going to be a short blog. I am actually going to get going to do a work out of my own actually.
