Obstacles

Since I mixed up the dates and didn't do the assignment the week it was suppose to be done I suppose that I will do 2 in a row.

I titled this one 'Obstacles' because I find that this course is going to be a lot of work for me. I picked an online course because I just gave birth to a baby girl on July 12th. She is the best baby ever. I figured that with a new baby in my life, and trying to work, and finish my college schooling as a full time student an online course may be best so that I can stay home. Since you lose that face to face teaching in the classroom it requires a lot of discipline and time management.

Things like blogs and online discussions help can really help other people like my situation. This is where Web 2.0 tools come in handy. Google docs, blogs, and wikis are great tools to help a student learn. In a class of mine where a post was required it was difficult to learn. You never had interaction like these new 2.0 tools allow. With blogs you can create the blog to reflect your personalities and this can encourage others to view your blogs and respond. Google docs allow single, first-time parents(like myself) to collaborate in a group project without having to try and fit in meeting times that work for everyone. It is very difficult and time consuming to try and pack up a baby and go places. Therefore, I really like the online meeting whenever is conveinient. I am not too familiar with wikis but I find it like the blog without the personalized fonts and colors and background pictures.

Like I stated before... I am not too positive how a math educator could use these tools in the classroom but an English or social studies teacher can definitely use these tools someday.
